More Livestock markets close due to FMD.

According to some traders at Kalerwe abattoir and at the City abattoir, there is reportedly a low supply of cattle and goats than was anticipated.Usually Mondays receive more supply because weekends at big consumption days. A trader in Kalerwe abbatior informed us that there is a disease in Mbarara which has brought about closure of the markets of Kapeka and Nakitoma.
Stock is currently delivered mostly from Kiboga district and therefore a sudden increase in price of beef from Ush.2,200 per kilogram wholesale at Kalerwe to Ush.2,300 per kilogram.Live animal prices range between Ush.400,000-900,000 for cattle weighing 150-300kgs and Ush.40,000-80,000 for goats of 8-20kgs.
