Grain purchase opens.
The opening of schools and grain traders’ open bid to buy grain has brought an increase in prices of commodities like beans and maize. Traders like Aponye Ltd and another Kenyan firm on Ntinda road are seriously stocking maize, beans and soya beans. Biyinzika Enterprises is also purchasing maize at Ush.400-420/kg. Price of maize grain has increased from Ush240-Ush255/kg off lorry. Kisenyi millers were reluctant to buy because they expect the grain to fall farther which wasn’t the case this week. Beans however maintain their high prices because of an increase in their supply especially from Masindi and Kabale. A kilo of K132 beans (Namable) went for Ush.680/kg wholesale Kisenyi while in Owino market, it sold at Ush.700/kg.
