Cassava root rot disease in Kiboga.
take action
Farmers in the district are very busy cleaning land in preparation for the first planting season A. This is after most parts of the district receiving rainfall. There are reports of cassava root rot disease (CRRD) being rampant in the area especially in the sub county Gayaza- Luwuuna parish. In Lwamata and Dwariro sub counties however cassava mosaic disease (CMD) has done more havoc due to the presence of less cassava improved varieties. The existence of village phones in the whole district has reduced exploitation of farmers by middlemen because farmers can now contact buyers directly in Kampala besides current market information via Kitara FM radio station which has also played an important role in sensitizing the local communities.
