Sierra Leone Farm Production and Food Security Survey

SIERRA LEONE - A nation – wide survey on Sierra Leones Farm Production, Food Security and Livestock status is currently in progress.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MAFS), World Food Programme (WFP), Development Assistance Coordinating Office (DACO) and the IFAD/ADB Project Coordination Unit jointly sponsored the exercise.

Its objective is to have an update of accurate and useful information on the Food Security situation in the country.

As a prelude to the survey, a three-day intensive training programme for ninety (90) enumerators and thirteen (13) supervisors was conducted simultaneously in Makeni and Bo towns, from the 5th - 7th May 2007.

The training process included presentations on the three different modules, thus: Household Questionnaire, Village Inventory Questionnaire and Livestock Questionnaire; group work and general discussions.
