Groundnut

Peanuts are actually a type of legume, not a nut. They can be eaten raw, roasted, boiled and many other ways, particularly as peanut butter (groundnut paste). The oil from peanuts is popular for cooking. Annual world production of peanuts in 2000 was about 28 million metric tons. Top exporters are the USA, Argentina, Sudan, Senegal and Brazil. Top importers are the EU, Canada and Japan.
